Sairee Beach

Sairee Beach is the main beach on Koh Tao. It is the longest beach on the island. It is protected from storms and has some of the best snorkelling on the island: just 100 meters offshore is a long stretch of coral reef with a great variety of marine life.

There's a good selection of accommodation on offer at Sairee Beach. Prices range from just 500 Thai Baht a night up to nearly 6,000 Thai Baht a night for luxury villas. The Rocks Luxury Villas has spacious air-con bungalows and a communal pool. Koh Tao Coral Grand Resort has a large pool and air-con bungalows with satellite TV and minibar. Koh Tao Star Villa has 2 self-contained apartments with separate living area and fully equipped kitchenette. At the other end of the accommodation spectrum, Lotus Resort and Khun Ying House have some of the cheapest bungalows on the island.

Many people come to Sairee Beach to dive or to learn how to dive. There are over 40 dive schools in Koh Tao and most of them have a shop on Sairee Beach. This makes it a great spot ot negotiate a discount. See the dive schools section for more information.

Sairee Beach is also great for those who just want to soak up the sun and cool off in the sea. At night there is a vibrant night life. Sairee is a west facing beach and so gets beautiful sunsets. Even if you don't want to dive there is still plenty of things to see and do on Sairee Beach and nearby.

The central and southern sections of Sairee Beach are where most of the bars and dive shops are located. The northern part tends to be less noisy at night.
