Jansom Bay and Charm Churee Village
Jansom Bay is just south of Sairee Beach in the west of Koh Tao. It is only 10 minutes walk from Mae Haad, the main port town and a convenient spot for those who want a beautiful beach near the facilities of both Sairee and Mae Haad.
Jansom Bay is supposedly a privately owned beach (this is slightly erroneous because beaches cannot be 'owned' in Thailand, only the land next to the beach). Anyway if you want to use the beach you have to pay an entrance fee or stay at Charm Churee Village or the newly opened Koh Tao Bamboo Huts.
Jansom Bay has a beautiful white sand beach - one of the best on the island. It is set in a secluded cove with interesting rock formations. The sea gets deep slowly and so is suitable for children.
There is some good snorkelling just off the coast. Also within swimming distance or an easy kayak ride away is the famous dive site of Three Rocks. It is a good spot to see Leopard sharks and Green sea turtles. Dive boats often moor in the bay.
Charm Churee Village is a boutique resort with accommodation just minutes from the beach. There are 3 restaurants and a spa. All rooms have sea views, air-con and hot water. There are also some beach front bungalows.
On a rocky headland just south of the beach at Jansom Bay is the recently opened Koh Tao Bamboo Huts. It is another boutique resort that has 14 huts overlooking the bay. 7 of the huts have their own small pools with Jacuzzi.
